Hosted by WALKSacramento in partnership with
Sacramento Area Council of Governments
Featuring Safe Routes to School National Partnership.

After a successful Regional Safe Routes to School Summit and a well-attended walk audit training workshop, WALKSacramento is hosting a third training opportunity. The workshop, developed as a result of input from our Safe Routes to School partners, will provide you with the skills to create, enact, and implement policies at all levels that support safe, active, and healthy school environments.

Policies that support student safety and health goals are an integral part of successful and sustainable Safe Routes to School programs. Policy is a great way to ensure that Safe Routes to School programs and practices remain a priority. This workshop will provide our Safe Routes partners with the skills to create, enact, and implement policies at all levels that support safe, active, and healthy school environments.

The Safe Routes to School Policy Development Workshop will feature Sara Zimmerman of the Safe Routes to School National Partnership. Sara will lead a comprehensive and interactive training on:

  • Why policy matters for Safe Routes to School and coordination between schools and local jurisdictions
  • Developing school district policies and working with districts to successfully enact them
  • Developing and advocating for city and county policies related to safe routes to school
  • Liability in Safe Routes to School programs

Space is limited so register now! While registration and parking are free, we encourage you to commute via active transportation. Get there early if you would like to join us for coffee. Lunch will be served.
