WHAT WE DO

Designing for a Healthier Sacramento

D4AS Advisory Council improves public health by shaping the built environment to better support walking, biking, and other healthy activities across the Sacramento Region. The council is the outcome of participation by a local team, including WALKSacramento Former Executive Director Teri Duarte, in the 2013 National Leadership Academy for the Public’s Health.


Accomplishments

2015

Sacramento County Design Guidelines and Zoning Code adopted with health and active design incorporated throughout the zoning code.

2016

Hosted California’s first regional convening of planning directors and public health officers to address health and the built environment.

2015

National Plan4Health grant awarded, joining a cohort of 17 APA-APHA coalitions across the nation. 

2017

Hosted California’s second regional convening of planning directors and public health officers to address health and the built environment.
