Walk to School Day 2012 with WALKSacramento

Dozens of schools in the Sacramento area participated in International Walk to School Day on Wednesday, October 3rd, 2012. International Walk to School Day is a truly global event, with people in over 40 countries participating by walking and biking to school on the same day. The event has greatly increased worldwide awareness of the benefits of children using “active transportation” to arrive at school.

This year, WALKSacramento staff helped and participated in Walk to School Day events at Elkhorn Village Elementary School in West Sacramento, Lichen Elementary School in Citrus Heights, and Bannon Creek Elementary in Natomas. These schools organized walking school buses and provided rewards and incentives to children for walking or riding to school.
